GuitarFest, Saturday, February 25, 9am-12:45pm

Community Music School presents its second annual GuitarFest on February 25, from 9 am to 12:45 pm. Musicians can register for $20 before February 18 by calling 269/963-1911 ext. 2585, or for $25 the week of GuitarFest and at the door beginning at 8:15. Guests are encouraged to bring guitars to play along, but are also welcome to come just listen and observe. There will be topics for all skill levels. World Drumming!

Explore drumming from around the world in this hands-on class! Taught by instructor Ty Forquer, the class is open to ages 15 all through adult.

Once Upon a Drumset, Saturday, May 12, 9am – 12:30pm at the Music Center!
Drumset players in school bands, jazz bands, church praise teams, and more will enjoy and benefit from this Festival. Guest clinician Keith Hall of Western Michigan University will be joined by Bill Dowdy and Ty Forquer, CMS faculty, for the day’s workshops and performances. For intermediate-advanced players. Bring your drumset or just come to listen. $25. Register by May 4 by calling (269) 963-1911, ext 2585.

Compose Yourself

Always wanted to write music? You can write your own piece in a class offered at CMS-Battle Creek. Instructor Philip Rugel will assist students in the composition process, and students will perform their pieces the final day of class. Compose Yourself is open to ages 12 through adult, and is intended for woodwinds, brass, guitar, and voice. No composition experience necessary.$10 per hour session, plus $5 registration fee.
